The Dynamics of Grace: Not of Works

One of the important "Dynamics of Grace" is that our salvation is definitively "Not of Works". Yet we have a way of redefining our relationship with God not by this fact but by our recent obedience or failure to obey.

Luke 18:9-14
Philippians 3:1-11
Ephesians 2:8-9
2 Timothy 1:9
Titus 3:4-5
1 Corinthians 1:30
James 2:10
Isaiah 64:6
Ephesians 1:6

Sermon Discussion Questions:

  • Describe why salvation is "not of works" but rather of: 1. Grace, 2. Christ, 3. Faith.

  • Why is it impossible to be saved by works?

  • What are the implications of this for religions that teach works?

  • How do we (in partnership with someone nasty) put ourselves under works?

  • How does being "graced" provide the vital remedy?
