Gospel Boots

If you are a serious hiker you know how important proper footwear is. Much more so for a soldier.  Paul tied this into an important lesson on the Christians armour against Satan.

Romans 10:14-15   How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Romans 1:7  To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:17  And the way of peace they have not known.”

Romans 5:1-2  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 8:6   For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 14:17   for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:19   Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.

Romans 15:13   Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:33   Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Romans 16:20   And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

John 10:10   The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Romans 12:18   If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

Sermon Discussion Questions:

  • What is the significance of these concepts in the verse:  "Romans war sandals, preparation/readiness, Gospel, peace?

  • Describe how the Christian's "peace with God" came about.

  • How about peace with each other?

  • Why does Satan want to destroy the experience of this peace?

  • What are the ways he and his cohorts attempt to do this?

  • How does the "Gospel Boots" stop him?
